I am making ample use of my iPad during my time as a fellow of the AustrianStartups Entrepreneurial Leadership Program. All of the events are structured really well and the speakers are just mind-blowingly good which makes it a real pleasure to draw along.
Youth for Understanding has been opening minds and hearts to the world for 70 years. I was fortunate to have gone on student exchange myself when I was 15 and it has changed my life. I was asked to put the kick-off of the anniversary year into drawing – this was the result!
The Youth Empowerment Seminar 2021 for exchange students all over the world had visual support this year – I drew along with the plenary sessions and summarized the four workshop tracks. The organization team picked amazing speakers and showed the full potential of online sessions with two deaf speakers and translations from sign language to Spanish to English.
For the municipality of Lelystad (NL), I made visual summaries of 4 online sessions about the development of the city concerning education, nature, housing and economy. Each session took about 40 minutes, with most content being presented in the beginning. Needless to say, my desk was covered in post-its with content that waited to be included in the recording.
Podcasts and Ted talks are gold mines for aspiring visual recorders. The content is well-prepared, the structure easy to follow and the main points are easy to recognize.

Because of corona, in-person events have been few and far between in the last year and my markers and big paper sheets have gone largely unused.
